Gardening, A WIP Parade, and a Mango Tree

Desirae Hayes-Victor on Unsplash Happy Monday! Well, it's that time of year again- gardening season. The weather is still too crazy to plant anything, so it's mostly weeding and tidying. Last year, the Castle Wolf Pack kept running around my garden beds whenever they saw a squirrel, so building a fence is on the Spring to-do list as well. I've already given the roses a much needed trim, and they looked very appreciative. I'll definitely be growing Jalapenos, Bell Peppers, and Okra this year, so stay tuned for their pictures once they start to grow. On the cross stitch side of things, I've made good progress on Nikolai:  Russian Hunting by Riolis That tree branch is looking good, and it was very nice to be stitching in cream, blue, and pink floss. It's a nice color trio! Now, about my next WIP. I've looked into my rotation, and these are the ones that jumped out at me: Of all of them, I'm really staring at Medieval Menagerie. It's one color, it’s M

Spring Ambience, Seasonal Stitching, and an Orange Cat

Alexandru Tudorache on Unsplash Happy Monday! For a few days, Spring was definitely in the air. The plants were starting to become green, and the weather was nice and warm. Overnight, however, the weather turned bitterly cold! So we're back to Winter weather again here at the Castle. I feel bad for my pink roses. They were fooled too, and had rosebuds on them! I'm working with cream and blue floss right now in the sky:  I think I'll get quite a bit, if not the rest of the horse's nose done as I continue working my way down this row. Oh, you noticed the cat above the frame, huh? He insisted on being in the shot, and who am I to say no to him? He's my very sassy Orange Boy. Lately, he's taken up the wonderful hobby of knocking my embroidery scissors off the table. And chewing on my cross stitch fabric. He's a rascal but he's mine... So when the beginning of March rolls around, I think I'll pack away Nikolai until after Thanksgiving. I know it's

Valentine's, a Cello, and Sketches

Brooke Lark on Unsplash Happy Tuesday! Do you think it's still the season for Peppermint Mochas? I say yes, because it's still Winter. Yes, we're edging closer and closer to Spring, but Winter still has some life in it. It's certainly very cold and Wintery where Nikolai is. Last time I posted a WIP update, we had just started to see his horse's ear, but over the past week, I've made some nice progress up that tree:  Russian Hunting by Riolis Isn't it great looking? I love stitching in those soft brown shades. Once I finish this column, I'll have to unfold the chart to see the next now of stitches, so while it's technically a giant piece of paper that has to be unfolded, I'm going to take the W and call it a page finish. It's February again, so for anyone interested in a quick Valentine's Day project, I present to you Heart and Key Sampler by me:  This is a really quick stitch! It would look cute as a pillow, or even a flat fold. As you
