Hurray! It's been at least three years since I bought this chart, maybe even a bit longer. I saw it on the shelf of my LNS and thought it was the most beautiful cross stitch pumpkin I'd ever seen.  I still think so too :) Recently I've been in a finishing frenzy kind of mood. After having lost my stitchy bug for a bit, I can't tell you how good it feels to be back in the saddle. First I got a finish on the Tangerines, now this. Here it is, J is for Jack-O-Lantern by The Prairie Schooler: Those yellow flowers are stunning! And that cat looks like it's been freaked out. My, what a happy looking pumpkin in the bottom right. More photos: My goal was to finish it by the end of September, but I went just a little bit passed that since I finished it up this morning. Here I am! Well, I did it. As promised, here is my blog post for this week.  Progress has been made on J is for Jack-O-Lantern, but if I want a finish before the end of September (a tentative goal of mine) I'll need to spend a bit more time stitching everyday.  This is such a fun project. As you can tell from the leaf in the upper right hand corner, my strategy is to stitch the outline of the leaves first, then fill in with the lighter green.  See those yellow flowers? When I saw the called for floss I thought, "No way, that's going to look weird." But after stitching the flower at the bottom right, I was very pleased. Isn't it just super pretty?  After I finish this one, I'll still have Halloween coming up (pinning a lot on my September deadline!) so naturally I'll be picking up Halloween Moon again. The floss on that chart is so vivid, I'm sure you can see it from space.  What I've Been Watching I love history, especially pre King Jam...

Wip Update  Hello there my friends! The other morning, I stepped outside my back door and was pleasantly surprised; there was a crisp coolness in the air that I haven't felt since Spring. I think that Fall has finally arrived! The Fall's crisp, cool weather is one of the things that keeps me going through the awful (and sticky, hot, unbearable etc.) August weather.  Some people aren't, but I think that I'm a seasonal stitcher (as in, I stitch Christmas wips during Christmas, Summer themed wips during the Summer. You get the idea.) Bearing that in mind, I've gotten a ton of stitching done on J is for Jack O Lantern by Prairie Schooler.  Behold: Ignore the cat with the missing ear. Progress Update on J is for Jack O' Lantern Hello again! Been a busy beaver over here. Weather is absolutely beautiful, and I've been getting a goodly amount of stitching time in. So here is what J is for Jack O' Lantern looked like the last time you saw it: And here's what it looks like now: A stem! That green is beautiful. I like the roundness of this pumpkin too. Initially I did have my doubts about the brown shades of this pumpkin, but I've gotta say it's grown on me. And that leaf! Next in the rotation is... Drum roll, drum roll, drum roll... Wild Card! This Week's Progress on J is for Jack O Lantern  I drew this one with so much confidence. "Ok!" I thought,"This week I'm going to make a ton of progress. I'll even start using green floss!" And then I hardly stitched on it at all. Ahhhhh! I don't know what's wrong with me! Here's what it looked like before (I think I picked this one up once or twice in October as well):   Before And here's my progress: After Not as much done on this one as I had hoped for, but every stitch counts.
