Boo! Monday Update

Thought I forgot, huh?

Here on a Monday. A bit not according to schedule, but I have a good excuse for not posting last Friday. The weather was atrocious, and instead of taking my update picture in dark, miserable lighting, I decided to take my chance on Monday. Thankfully it's an absolutely beautiful, clear and sunny day.

On a seperate note, I think as we get closer to Halloween, I become more of a sweet tooth. Pretty sure I've already eaten my weight in Reeses Pieces.

Let's jump into my progress on Trick or Treat Moon.

Wip Update

Behold:

See that border? Stitches up very fast. I turn on a Podcast and it practically stitches itself (hyperbole alert!).

The moon itself has two basic floss colors. One for an outline, and another to fill in the main body of the moon. My strategy is to stitch the outline first, then fill in. It's working so far, and I'm pleased with how fast it's going. Close up:

Please ignore the cat hair on the black aida :)

That assortment of confetti stitches in bright pastel colors in the lower left, between the moon and the border is a piece of candy. Now, it's pretty and the floss colors are lovely- but wow is it slow to stitch. Lots of color changes.

In the upper right hand side, above the cat's tail is where a caramel will go. So excited to stitch that!

Speaking of the cat, I've made a lot of progress on him. Yes; him. I've decided to name him Edgar, after Edgar Allen Poe.

Pretty original right? (That last bit is sarcasm).

I expect to start stitching the moons facial features soon, so stay tuned for that.

Shop Update

Not really an update, just an FYI. So many things are sold out right now. With Christmas coming up and what with all of this supply chain uncertainty, I just wanted to say that my Etsy shop is all digital download listings. You get your order right away, or you can send the chart as a gift right away. No wait time. No worries about it running out. Your chart is ready to download right away.

Happy Stitching!

Gloomy Weather Reading, Phoenixes, and a Promo Code

Photo by  Alessia Cocconi  on  Unsplash It’s a very stormy, overcast kind of day at the Castle as I write this post. It wouldn’t take much to make me think of books I love, but doesn’t a day that makes you stay inside just make you want to read? A few years ago, I read the Phantom of the Opera. While I had seen the Emmy Rossum movie adaptation, I had never read the book, so I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fantastic, and a real page-turner! While I do have that book as a paper-back, I’m really enjoying reading with my Kindle. I can stay up late (as late as I can before I fall asleep face first into my pillow) and hear the owls hooting or the traffic driving past my window in the distance. If the weather stays as dark and gloomy as the weatherman says it will, then I foresee reading to the sound of thunder and rain as well. What’s not to like about that? It would be absolutely unacceptable if I mentioned the Phantom ...

Mini Tudor Sampler

New Chart! Mini Tudor Sampler by EmnEllie Tudor inspired motifs, such as a crown and a Tudor rose, adorn this traditional cross stitch sampler. Bands and an alphabet surround the motifs of this traditional English inspired sampler. In the pictured model above, I added initials. These initials will not be shown in the chart that is sent to you, that area will be left blank so that you can insert your own initials using the alphabet from the sampler if you wish. Stitch count is 80 wide by 80 high. The fabric used was 18 count Vintage Country Mocha Aida. One color was used throughout, DMC 115 Variegated Garnet. Finished size on 18 count Aida is approximately 4-1/2 inches (11.3cm) wide by 4-1/2 inches (11.3cm) high. This listing is for a digital download cross stitch chart of the pictured cross stitch above. Nothing will be physically sent to you. More info on the digital download process here: https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013328108-Downloading-a-Digital-Item The link to the ...
