Cream Soda, a Flower Pot, and New Listings

 Happy Monday!

It was a little difficult to put away Nikolai last week. Once you get into the flow of stitching 10 x 10 squares, it's a little weird switching gears and going to a non full coverage WIP. However, at the end of my first full week of stitching on Medieval Menagerie I'm pleased to report that I'm enjoying stitching Medieval Menagerie as much as I enjoyed stitching Nikolai! Instead of working 10 x 10, I'm working motif by motif. My goal is one motif finish a day (unless it's a big motif, then I'll work the motif bit by bit). Here's my progress so far:

That flower and vine were a joy to stitch. The flower pot looks very curly. Doesn't that DMC 115 make it glow?

Lately, I've been adding some new listings to my Etsy shop. If you're interested in browsing my new charts, the link to my shop is here.

There's really nothing like a nice, cold cream soda. It's been one my most favorite sodas since I was a little girl. It's crisp and clean tasting, and it has the most beautiful color. Until I read this Bon Appétit article I had no idea it had such an interesting history. The link to the article is here.

Gloomy Weather Reading, Phoenixes, and a Promo Code

Photo by  Alessia Cocconi  on  Unsplash It’s a very stormy, overcast kind of day at the Castle as I write this post. It wouldn’t take much to make me think of books I love, but doesn’t a day that makes you stay inside just make you want to read? A few years ago, I read the Phantom of the Opera. While I had seen the Emmy Rossum movie adaptation, I had never read the book, so I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fantastic, and a real page-turner! While I do have that book as a paper-back, I’m really enjoying reading with my Kindle. I can stay up late (as late as I can before I fall asleep face first into my pillow) and hear the owls hooting or the traffic driving past my window in the distance. If the weather stays as dark and gloomy as the weatherman says it will, then I foresee reading to the sound of thunder and rain as well. What’s not to like about that? It would be absolutely unacceptable if I mentioned the Phantom ...
