New Start!

Had to have a new start!

I have had the chart for Turkey Bay by Plum Street Samplers on my mind for awhile now. I first saw it on Flosstube, watching Liz and Deb on their lovely channel, Country Stitchers. (Link to their channel is HERE ) HAD to have that chart! It's been difficult, trying to hold back and wait until I had a finish so I wouldn't add another project to my rotation. But then the crazy startaholic side of my brain said,"START TURKEY BAY!" So I did!

Here's what Turkey Bay looks like when it's done:

 And here's my start:

My tremendous start
I like to start from the middle. Not always, but I find it makes it easier to gauge if I have enough fabric for finishing on all sides. I think I'm on the pumpkin in the middle of the boat; which is a gravy boat. How cute and clever is that!

And since I had a new start,I thought, why not try a new to me technique of holding my floss? I saw  Stitcher211 on Instagram( Mary Lang, link to her Instagram HERE ) and Lorrie on Flosstube ( her channel is "Mischievous Stitches", HERE ) making these kinds of floss tags. They are so fun to make. Choosing the paper is super fun too.

Can't wait to stitch on this one again! Really looking forward to stitching the gravy boat.

The fabric I chose was 28 count Ivory Zweigart, and the floss is the provided DMC conversion.

Thank you for stopping by and reading about my stitching.

See you next time and happy stitching!

Fabric, Moving the Q-Snap, and Fall Beverages

Phone Stand Pillow In my last post, I mentioned making a phone stand pillow. My first step was deciding which fabric to use. After going on an expedition through the Castle's fabric room, I've decided on these prints: I want to make more than one phone stand. One for when I'm reading, stitching, watching TV, etc. While I probably (famous last words, haha) won't use all of these fabrics, I still have to decide who stays and who goes. More on that in my next post, so stay tuned. WIP Update Here's where I got to since last time: Medieval Menagerie by Fox and Rabbit Designs Behold! A finished phoenix! I'm very fond of this phoenix. Don't those feathers look magnificent? As an added bonus for finishing this first dazzling bird, I can move my Q-Snap, which is always a treat. It gives one such a great sense of accomplishment. As for my next steps, I'll start stitching the other phoenix and the remaining motifs in this band before I begin stitching the egg in...

Gloomy Weather Reading, Phoenixes, and a Promo Code

Photo by  Alessia Cocconi  on  Unsplash It’s a very stormy, overcast kind of day at the Castle as I write this post. It wouldn’t take much to make me think of books I love, but doesn’t a day that makes you stay inside just make you want to read? A few years ago, I read the Phantom of the Opera. While I had seen the Emmy Rossum movie adaptation, I had never read the book, so I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fantastic, and a real page-turner! While I do have that book as a paper-back, I’m really enjoying reading with my Kindle. I can stay up late (as late as I can before I fall asleep face first into my pillow) and hear the owls hooting or the traffic driving past my window in the distance. If the weather stays as dark and gloomy as the weatherman says it will, then I foresee reading to the sound of thunder and rain as well. What’s not to like about that? It would be absolutely unacceptable if I mentioned the Phantom ...
