Rotation Report

Wip Update

Welcome back! Here's the progress I made on my rotation since my last blog post.

 I worked on:

  • Still Life with Tangerines
  • Leilani
  • Linen and Thread's 2018 Mystery Sampler
  • Turkey Bay
  • Great Wave off Kanagawa
  • J is for Jack O Lantern
  • Fantasy Triptych

  Still Life with Tangerines

The gray part at the bottom may just look like shading, which it is. But it's not just shading; it's the outline of the next tangerine! Very excited to work with orange floss again.

 Leilani

This is not only my first Mirabilia, but also my first time using silk floss. Love it! It's so soft and I haven't had any problem with it tangling so far. Right now I'm trying to decide if I should continue with her dress, stitch some more of the flowers, or start stitching her skin. Lots of decisions to make! It feels very appropriate to be stitching her in the summer.

Linen & Threads Mystery Sampler 2018

Alert! Alert! Page finish! Last update, it seemed like Still Life with Tangerines was being stitched on a lot. Lately though, I have been stitching on the Linen and Threads Mystery Sampler. Every wild card or Sunday I choose the Mystery Sampler, because I'm so close to finishing the first bar! That page finish has really given me the motivation to charge through the last page of this bar.

I saw someone stitching something similar to this on Instagram a while back ( I can't remember who ) and they were using DMC Variegated 115. Then I saw other people stitching different things using 115 and I had to try using it too. Really like my choice.

Hopefully by the next update I'll be able to show you all the finished bar.

 Great Wave off Kanagawa

I like the way the 1 over one on 25 count looks. It's a nice size, not too small and the coverage looks good. What I'll probably do is instead of going down on my next page start, I'll keep going across. Working on page 3 right now.

J is for Jack O Lantern

The middle portion of the pumpkin is done! I think I will finish this as a flat fold finish ( Using Vonna's method )

 Fantasy Triptych

Slow and steady wins the race, especially when you are stitching a Wentzler. However, I feel like I'm making real progress on the ground and the grass in the middle panel of the triptych.

 Turkey Bay

Haven't stitched on this one since my last post ( the blog post is called "New Start" ) so no new progress to report.

 That's my progress!

 Happy stitching,

 Marisol

Fabric, Moving the Q-Snap, and Fall Beverages

Phone Stand Pillow In my last post, I mentioned making a phone stand pillow. My first step was deciding which fabric to use. After going on an expedition through the Castle's fabric room, I've decided on these prints: I want to make more than one phone stand. One for when I'm reading, stitching, watching TV, etc. While I probably (famous last words, haha) won't use all of these fabrics, I still have to decide who stays and who goes. More on that in my next post, so stay tuned. WIP Update Here's where I got to since last time: Medieval Menagerie by Fox and Rabbit Designs Behold! A finished phoenix! I'm very fond of this phoenix. Don't those feathers look magnificent? As an added bonus for finishing this first dazzling bird, I can move my Q-Snap, which is always a treat. It gives one such a great sense of accomplishment. As for my next steps, I'll start stitching the other phoenix and the remaining motifs in this band before I begin stitching the egg in...

Gloomy Weather Reading, Phoenixes, and a Promo Code

Photo by  Alessia Cocconi  on  Unsplash It’s a very stormy, overcast kind of day at the Castle as I write this post. It wouldn’t take much to make me think of books I love, but doesn’t a day that makes you stay inside just make you want to read? A few years ago, I read the Phantom of the Opera. While I had seen the Emmy Rossum movie adaptation, I had never read the book, so I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fantastic, and a real page-turner! While I do have that book as a paper-back, I’m really enjoying reading with my Kindle. I can stay up late (as late as I can before I fall asleep face first into my pillow) and hear the owls hooting or the traffic driving past my window in the distance. If the weather stays as dark and gloomy as the weatherman says it will, then I foresee reading to the sound of thunder and rain as well. What’s not to like about that? It would be absolutely unacceptable if I mentioned the Phantom ...
