Happy September
I know I’m a bit late on this, but it’s finally my favorite month! We’re waving goodbye to the sun and heat of Summer and saying hello! to Halloween, Thanksgiving, potpourri, cinnamon-flavored everything, and copious amounts of faux, decorative acorns. Doing things like browsing school supply sales and looking at stacks of stationery and bright pens that you don’t really need, and wondering if you should buy a gigantic pumpkin for the front patio. At least, that’s what Autumn looks like here at the castle. The first of many seasonal additions to the castle are scented soap pumps. One of them has bats, and the other is shaped like an acorn. Next up, I’ve hung a harvest-themed wooden sign by the castle gates. During a conversation with a friend the other day, I discovered that some people don’t decorate until the first day of Autumn, September 22nd. That sounds like an impossible challenge to me! The moment the calendar turns over to September, I switch my brain into caramel apple and spooky season mode. I start perusing my shelves for good ghost stories and movies. What about you? When does Autumn start for you?
Trick or Treat Milestone
Dear readers, I’m so pleased to share this huge milestone with you. After years (I forget exactly how many) of working on Trick or Treat Moon, I’ve finished all of the cross stitch for the project! You read that right! Long-time readers, this isn’t a dream!
I triple checked my chart to make sure, but it’s true. After finishing that purple piece of candy near the middle, I can officially start on the mountain of backstitch that awaits me. And it’s quite a daunting mountain. While I’m not quite at the point where I need Samwise Gamgee carrying me up this backstitch mountain, I’m not far off. This chart is from a magazine printed in the 90s, and that decade really loved adding insane amounts of backstitch to designs.
