Shop Update #2

What's New in the Shop!

Welcome to shop update #2!

A couple of new charts to show you this time, as well as an old chart that I've decided to bring back.

This single color chart could be stitched as a decoration for your home, hung in a nursery, an accessory for your desk or office space, a present for a friend or family member, or even given as a housewarming gift.

On the pictured model above, I used DMC 154 using two strands, on 18 count Vintage Country Mocha Aida.

Stitch count is 108 wide by 108 high.

On 18 count fabric this design is approximately 6" wide by 6" high ( 15.2 cm wide by 15.2 cm high )

The Cardinal Virtues

The Cardinal Virtues

Prudence, Justice, Fortitude, and Temperance. These admirable virtues, along with the bird of the same name, are featured in these primitive and whimsical patterns. You could stitch these separately, as pictured above, or even all together on one piece of fabric.

On the pictured models above I used DMC 115 floss, using two strands, on 18 count Rustico fabric. Note; usually, with this type of floss you complete each stitch one at a time. However, I did not use that method instead stitching in the normal method, and achieved the pictured effect.

Stitch count of each individual pattern is 76w x 76h

On 18 count fabric, the finished size of each of the virtues is approximately 4-1/4 inches (10.7cm) wide by 4-1/4 inches (10.7cm) high.

Mini Lovebirds and Morning Glories

Mini Lovebirds and Morning Glories

This is a lovely Cross Stitch chart for that special day. There is only one color throughout, a simple, classic white. Lovebirds face each other in the middle, hearts are hidden here and there, while Morning Glories adorn the corner of the design, all surrounded by a geometrical border to enclose the lovely scene. This would make a sweet wedding present, as well as an anniversary present. This chart is a mini version of one of my other charts, Lovebirds and Morning Glories.

The cross stitch pictured above was stitched on 18 count Vintage Country Mocha aida.

Finished size on 18 count aida is approximately 6 inches (15.2cm) wide by 6 inches (15.2cm) high.

Also included is a chart for the letters and numbers.

Cat Cross Stitch

Cat Cross Stitch
Cat Cross Stitch

For all those cat loving cross stitchers out there! I have published this chart before, but it wasn't very successful. The other day I bumped into it in a drawer and fell in love again. So here it is!

This geometrical chart was thought up while my cat was sitting on one of my other projects. Around the cat are all the things that cat's can't get enough of: mice, fish bones, and catnip leaves.

This pattern is stitched using whole cross stitches, and just a little bit of backstitch.

There are only two colors used throughout, DMC 820, and DMC white. Because there are only two colors, this would be a great pattern to stitch after a coming off of a big design with a ton of colors, or a travel cross stitch.

I stitched the pictured cross stitch on 18 count aida, and the finished design size is approximately 6" wide by 7" high ( 15.1cm wide by 17.9 cm high ) and the design is 107 stitches wide by 127 stitches high.

That's All!

See you next time! And until then,

Happy Stitching,

Marisol

Gloomy Weather Reading, Phoenixes, and a Promo Code

Photo by  Alessia Cocconi  on  Unsplash It’s a very stormy, overcast kind of day at the Castle as I write this post. It wouldn’t take much to make me think of books I love, but doesn’t a day that makes you stay inside just make you want to read? A few years ago, I read the Phantom of the Opera. While I had seen the Emmy Rossum movie adaptation, I had never read the book, so I didn’t know what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was fantastic, and a real page-turner! While I do have that book as a paper-back, I’m really enjoying reading with my Kindle. I can stay up late (as late as I can before I fall asleep face first into my pillow) and hear the owls hooting or the traffic driving past my window in the distance. If the weather stays as dark and gloomy as the weatherman says it will, then I foresee reading to the sound of thunder and rain as well. What’s not to like about that? It would be absolutely unacceptable if I mentioned the Phantom ...

Jane Austen Cross Stitch Patterns

Photo by Elaine Howlin on Unsplash Happy Pride and Prejudice Day! In honor of this wonderful day, I will not only be watching Pride and Prejudice later (the 1995 BBC one) I’m also sharing a list of the Jane Austen, and Austen-ish cross stitch patterns that I’ve made. By the end of this post, you’ll have Mr. Bingley wondering at all the accomplishments cross stitchers have these days ;) Regency Silhouettes: There are two charts here, and I like to think that they’re Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. I wanted them to look like the silhouettes that you see on the walls in period dramas.  Available as a freebie, here’s the link. This is a great chart for all bookworms, with motifs inspired by Victorian wallpaper and the covers of vintage books. Caroline Bingley would be stitching this for her library, because we know that she can’t survive without good literature.  Available in my Etsy shop, link is here.
